The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) will be hosting a pre-application technical assistancewebinar on October 27, 2021 from 1PM 2PM (Eastern Time) for all potential applicants interested in the following Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA): RFA-NS-22-002 HEAL Initiative: Advancing Health Equity in Pain Management (R61/R33 Clinical Trial Required) This FOA aims to accelerate development, testing and implementation of evidence-based interventionsthat are culturally and linguistically appropriate for NIH-designated populations that experience health disparities (HDPs) in the United Statesto mitigate disparities in provision of care and treatment decisions, reduce susceptibility to chronic pain and improve patient outcomes. NIH program and review staff will ?provide an overview of the RFA, including objectives, application instructions and review criteria and will be available to answer questions. The purpose of this Notice is to inform the community that the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) intends to publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) that will solicit applications for the Stroke Preclinical Assessment Network (SPAN) Testing Laboratories. SPAN supports late-stage preclinical efficacy studies of putative cerebroprotectants to be given prior to or at the time of reperfusion in experimental stroke models. Parallel testing of the most promising interventions in a network structure will help to determine if an intervention can improve outcome as compared to reperfusion alone and/or extend the therapeutic window for reperfusion, with the overall end goal of guiding the selection of the most promising agent(s) to transition to future Phase II clinical trials (to be conducted through StrokeNet). SPAN will consist of one Coordinating Center (CC), several testing laboratories, and intervention contributors. This infrastructure is expected to test multiple interventions in animal models of transient cerebral ischemia.

NIDA, with other NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research Institutes and Centers (ICs), intends to reissue initiative RFA-DA-16-009. The program is designed to either establish new research training programs or to support the continuation of meritorious existing training programs in computational neuroscience and behavior and for undergraduate and predoctoral level students. This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop responsive projects. The overall objectives of the program have not changed, however, minor changes to improve the clarity and focus of the previous announcement are expected. The FOA is expected to be published in early 2022 with an expected application due date in Fall 2022.

The purpose of this time-sensitive Request for Information (RFI) is to seek input from scientists, clinicians, patients, families, caregivers, advocates, and the broader dementia community on the most important needs and promising opportunities for Alzheimer's disease-related dementias (ADRD) research. The information submitted in response to this RFI will be used by committees of scientists, clinicians, and other members of the public to revise and update the ADRD 2019 research recommendations.

The purpose of this Notice is to alert potential applicants to the early expiration of PAR-20-316 "NIH Countermeasures Against Chemical Threats (CounterACT) Research Centers of Excellence (U54 - Clinical Trial Optional)". This FOA will expire on October 1, 2021.
