Predoctoral Fellows

NINDS provides fellowships for graduate and dual-degree students in neuroscience, as well as opportunities for students to do research at the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland.

Predoctoral Awards

Individual fellowships for predoctoral training which leads to the combined MD/PhD and other dual Clinical/Research degrees for students in non-MSTP programs. NINDS does not support the F30 mechanism at MSTP institutions.

Fellowships to provide predoctoral individuals with supervised research training in specified health and health-related areas leading toward the research doctoral degree (e.g., PhD) or MD/PhD students in MSTP programs.

Fellowship support for the research training of predoctoral students from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups that have been shown to be underrepresented in the biomedical research workforce.

Administrative supplements to currently active NIH research grants to support individuals with high potential to re-enter or re-integrate into an active research career after an interruption. 

Administrative supplements to currently active NIH research grants to provide support for research experiences for individuals from diverse backgrounds to enhance the diversity of the research workforce.

Administrative supplements to currently active NINDS research HEAL grants to support the training of individuals from diverse backgrounds and enhance the diversity of the research workforce.

Administrative supplements to currently active NINDS research BRAIN grants to support the training of individuals from diverse backgrounds and enhance the diversity of the research workforce.

Administrative supplements to currently active NINDS research AD/ADRD grants to support the training of individuals from diverse backgrounds and enhance the diversity of the research workforce.

Administrative supplements to active NIH SBIR/STTR grants to enhance the diversity of the research workforce and increase the participation of women and socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in small businesses.

Predoc to Postdoc Transition Award

The NIH Blueprint and BRAIN Initiative Diversity Specialized Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Advancement in Neuroscience (D-SPAN) Award supports the pre- to post-doctoral transition of diverse graduate students.

Postdoctoral Awards with Eligibility for Late-Stage Graduate Students

Fellowship designed specifically to support outstanding scientific training for graduating predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows who will begin or are just beginning a new postdoctoral training period in a given laboratory or research environment.

Fellowship designed to enhance the research training of early postdoctoral trainees who have the potential to become productive investigators in research areas that will advance the goals of the BRAIN Initiative.
