This Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) highlights interest in receiving grant applications focused on mechanistic, genetic, and other studies to evaluate causes and consequences of and risk factors for sudden death in the young. Studies are required to use phenotypic data and/or DNA samples and/or associated sequence data from the NIH/CDC Sudden Death in the Young (SDY) Case Registry as foundations for their research. Studies may use SDY Case Registry phenotypic data and/or samples and/or sequence data alone or in combination with other cohorts. Results of such studies are required to adhere to the NIH Data Sharing Policy https://sharing.nih.gov/data-management-and-sharing-policy so that the data is disseminated widely and provides an evidence base to advance discussions about screening and prevention of SDY.

The purpose of this notice is to inform applicants of a correction to the Eligibility Information for RFA-NS-23-003 "HEAL Initiative: Interdisciplinary Team Science to Uncover the Mechanisms of Pain Relief by Medical Devices (RM1 Clinical Trial Optional)". For this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), "Section III. Eligibility Information" and "Section IV. Application and Submission Information, 7. Other Submission Requirements and Information" have been corrected to allow intramural participation.

The Federal Interagency Traumatic Brain Injury Research (FITBIR) Informatics System is supported by a collaboration between the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Defense (DoD) with the expressed mission to accelerate the pace of discovery and advance research through data sharing, increase investigator collaboration, and comply with Federal policies relating to data sharing of publicly-funded research. The FITBIR Informatics System provides the traumatic brain injury (TBI) research community with a common platform for exchanging data, protocols, and research-related information. There are no changes to the expectations and data sharing requirements for studies subject to the policy outlined in NOT-NS-17-029. Rather, the policy outlined below is designed to optimize use of the current FITBIR resources, maximize data sharing access, and centralize federally supported TBI-related research data. The policy modification outlined here applies to NINDS-funded TBI research data involving human subjects research that is not covered by the FITBIR data sharing requirements outlined in NOT-NS-17-029. This policy modification also aligns with and satisfies the requirements defined in the NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy, and will provide a consistent and sustainable data repository for all NIH-funded TBI-related human subjects research. Consistent with the overall NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy, this TBI-specific data sharing policy modification will be effective as of January 25, 2023. NINDS-funded TBI research data involving human subjects research that is not covered by the NOT-NS-17-029 will now be required to house data in the Meta Studies Module within FITBIR. Exceptions to this requirement are outlined in Research Covered Under the Data Management & Sharing Policy.

This NINDS Notice provides additional guidance for requesting funded extensions for NINDS K award recipients impacted by COVID-19.

For this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), "Section III. Eligibility Information" and "Section IV. Application and Submission Information, 7. Other Submission Requirements and Information" have been corrected to allow intramural participation.

This NOSI supports creation of data archive(s), development of software tools, and establishment of data standards for BBQS-related studies to address the above-described challenges in the research program. The informatics infrastructure and tools to be developed under this NOSI are expected to be widely used by BBQS investigators, as well as by a broader community. Applications in response to this NOSI should therefore clearly justify the importance and implications of the proposed informatics infrastructure or tools to the BBQS program, and identify the potential user base. The projects funded under this NOSI are expected to support, communicate and collaborate with the funded BBQS research projects. Applicants should therefore familiarize themselves with the BBQS research program and funded projects (https://www.braininitiative.nih.gov/funding/initiatives.htm; also see RFA-MH-22-240 and RFA-DA-23-030).

The Purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants that the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is participating, effective immediately, in RFA-TR-22-030 "Pilot Projects Investigating Understudied Proteins Associated with Rare Diseases (R03 Clinical Trials Not Allowed).

The purpose of this notice is to inform applicants of a change to the Eligibility Information for RFA-Ns-22-050 "HEAL Initiative: Discovery of Biomarkers and Biomarker Signatures to Facilitate Clinical Trials for Pain Therapeutics (UG3/UH3 Clinical Trial Optional)". The Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) has been modified to show that "foreign components, as defined in the NIH Grants Policy Statement, are allowed.

The purpose of this notice is to add NINDS-specific research interests in PAS-22-196 "Advancing Research on Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and AD-Related Dementias (ADRD) (R43/R44 Clinical Trial Optional)".
