The purpose of this FOA is to support the expansion of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) Human Cell and Data Repository. The repository will maintain the current collection of fibroblast and induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines as well as develop, characterize, expand and where appropriate genetically modify new high-quality iPSC, fibroblast cell lines and peripheral blood monocyte cells in accordance with the NINDS mission. The NINDS Human Cell and Data Repository will distribute human cell resources broadly to qualified academic and industry researchers.

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is soliciting applications for a Human Biospecimen and Data Repository for Biomarkers Research ("Biomarkers Repository") in Neurological Disorders. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages applications for Countermeasures Against Chemical Threats (CounterACT) Research Centers of Excellence (U54s). The mission of the CounterACT program is to foster and support research and development of new and improved therapeutics for chemical threats (see www.ninds.nih.gov/counteract). Chemical threats are toxic chemicals that could be used in a terrorist attack or accidentally released from industrial production, storage or shipping. They include traditional chemical warfare agents, toxic industrial chemicals, and pesticides.The scope of the research includes target and candidate identification and characterization, through candidate optimization and demonstration of in vivo efficacy, through Investigational New Drug (IND)-enabling studies required for advanced development. The Centers will contain at least three research projects supported by administrative and scientific cores, and a research education core.Each research project must include milestones that create discrete go or no-go decision points in a progressive translational study plan.

This research resource is intended to develop an infrastructure that works with wireless carriers to create a registry of potential participants to facilitate mHealth research across a variety of observational and clinical research studies and settings, and for a range of diseases and populations. This FOA supports Mobilizing Research for development of the infrastructure and transition to sustainability.
