Dr. Kunal Gupta is an assistant professor of neurological surgery at Indiana University. Dr. Gupta specializes in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery, with a focus on the open and minimally invasive treatment of movement disorders and epilepsy. His current clinical interests include deep brain stimulation, laser interstitial thermal therapy, responsive neurostimulation, and radiofrequency ablation. Dr. Gupta’s research interests include developing novel methods to treat epilepsy and advance novel surgical techniques. Specifically, he is interested in understanding the mechanisms responsible for the development of temporal lobe epilepsy. He and his team are looking to identify novel targets for the prevention of epilepsy development and surgical recurrence in high-risk groups. He is also developing novel surgical methods to treat medically refractory epilepsy.

Dr. Gupta received his Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Medicine, and PhD from the University of Cambridge. He completed his residency in neurological surgery at Oregon Health and Science University and his fellowship in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery at Emory University.
