Eun Jung Hwang was a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Biology at California Institute of Technology. In the laboratory of Richard Andersen, her research project focused on the mechanisms underlying reaching behavior. Specifically, she hypothesized distinct roles for posterior parietal cortex and dorsal premotor cortex in visually guided reaching. Testing the contributions of these cortical regions could inform the development of neural prosthetic applications and improve quality of life for patients who have lost reaching abilities. She received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and earned her B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University.
