Eddie Chang was a Resident Physician in Neurological Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. Under mentorship from Robert Knight, Keith Johnson, Srikantan Nagarajan, and Nina Dronkers, his research project examined the mechanisms that underlie the comprehension of spoken language by utilizing electrocorticography (e.g., the direct application of electrodes to the brain surface for recording cortical activity) from the human cortex during neurosurgical procedures. He received his M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco, where he also completed postdoctoral work in cognitive neuroscience, and his B.A. in Chemistry from Amherst College.
