Dr. Dong Yan was a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Yishi Jin at the University of California, San Diego, California. Using C. elegans and mouse models, he investigated the regulatory mechanisms of the delta-like 1 homolog (DLK1) signaling pathway in axon regeneration. This work sought to understand neuronal development, learning memory mechanisms, and provide new clues for curing axonal injuries. He earned his Ph.D. from Shanghai Institute for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai, China, and his B.S. in biology from the Nankai University, Tianjin, China. He is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, North Carolina.
