Dr. Morgenstern’s research focuses on the social context of stroke in Mexican Americans. His project, the Brain Attack Surveillance in Corpus Christi (BASIC) Project, aims to study the thirty-year stroke epidemiology trends in Mexican Americans to identify key factors and social determinants of health associated with more favorable stroke outcomes and utilization of post-stroke healthcare. The overarching goal of the project is to give insights into new ways to reduce ethnic stroke disparities.
