Dr. Sehgal works on the molecular and genetic basis of circadian rhythms and sleep, using primarily the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, as a model system. Her recent focus has been investigating the molecular network and neural circuitry by which the circadian clock transmits timing information throughout the brain to control overt rhythms of rest and activity in Drosophila.
