Dr. Polleux’s lab is focused on investigating the cellular and molecular mechanism that establish and maintain brain connectivity as they relate to neurodevelopmental disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. The goal of this research program is to identify cellular and molecular components that control the development and function of cortical circuits. These projects will explore the relationship between genes, circuit architecture, circuit function, and behavior in the framework of human cortical circuit evolution, relevant for understanding neurodevelopmental disorders or neurodegenerative diseases.
