Xinnan Wang was a post-doctoral research fellow in Genetics and Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School. In the laboratory of Thomas Schwarz, her overarching research goal was to understand the regulatory mechanisms underlying mitochondrial transport in cells. More specifically, she looked at animal models of Parkinsonism that might involve impaired mitochondria, investigating the involvement of mitochondrial motility in Parkinsonian neurodegeneration to provide a better understanding of the cellular defects and promising cues for therapies.

She earned her Ph.D. in Genetics and Neurobiology from the University of Cambridge, her M.S. in Human Genetics from China Medical University, and a B.S. in Clinical Medicine, also from China Medical University.
