Dr. Robert C. Axtell was a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Lawrence Steinman in the Department of Neurology and Neurological Sciences at Stanford University, Stanford, California. His research focused on determining the mode of action of interferon (IFN)-beta therapy and identifying biomarkers that predict and track the responsiveness to this treatment in multiple sclerosis. He earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Microbiology, University of Alabama, Birmingham, Alabama, and his M.S. and B.S. from Idaho State University, Pocatello, Idaho. He is currently an Associate Member in the Arthritis & Clinical Immunology Research Program at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
