Dr. Magdalini Polymenidou was a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Don Cleveland in the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research at the University of California - San Diego, California. Using cell cultures and a mouse model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), she aimed to define a set of disease-relevant TDP-43- and/or FUS/TLS-dependent RNA-processing alterations in the pathogenesis of ALS. This research contributed to the understanding of this disease and identified targets for therapeutic interventions. She earned her Ph.D. in molecular biology/neuroscience from the University Hospital of Zurich, Switzerland, and her B.Sc./M.Sc. in pharmaceutical sciences from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She is currently an Associate Professor for Biomedicine in the Department of Quantitative Biomedicine at the University of Zurich, Switzerland.
