Joanna Chiu was a Post-Doctoral Associate in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Rutgers University. In the laboratory of Isaac Edery, her research focused on better understanding the contribution of clock protein phosphorylation and degradation pathways in regulating circadian rhythms by focusing on PERIOD (PER), the central clock protein. Her project integrated in vitro assays, tissue culture based systems, and whole animal approaches through the fly model system for in vivo genetic manipulations. She earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from New York University, and her B.A. in Biology and Music from Mount Holyoke College.
