Dr. Jiou Wang was a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Arthur Horwich in the Department of Genetics at the Yale School of Medicine, Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut. His research focused on understanding the mechanisms of protein misfolding in the aging nervous system and how mutations in Cu/Zn Superoxide Dismutase (SOD1) cause the specific motor neuron degeneration in sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) using transgenic C. elegans and mouse models. He earned his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland, his M.D. from Peking University Health Sciences Center, China, and his B.M. from Beijing Medical University, China. He is now an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Solomon H. Snyder Department of Neuroscience at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland.
