Dr. Jakob Voigts is a postdoctoral fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Under the mentorship of Drs. Mark Harnett and Ila Fiete, Dr. Voigts will use novel approaches to examine the contributions of dendritic and network computation in complex associative behavior. Specifically, he will utilize a novel approach for cellular-level imaging in free behavior in animal models, requiring animals to perform associative computations. This work may provide novel insights into how cellular computations contribute to complex behavior and may have implications for the understanding of disorders, including dementia and schizophrenia, that may not be easily studied utilizing classical rodent behavior. Dr. Voigts completed his undergraduate coursework at the University of Heidelberg and received his PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
