Dr. Ilknur Telkes is a postdoctoral scholar at Albany Medical College. Dr. Telkes’ research focuses on improving spinal cord stimulation (SCS) for chronic refractory pain. Here, under the mentorship of Dr. Julie Pilitsis, she will investigate neural patterns of SCS waveforms and assess SCS-induced pain relief by using electroencephalography in awake and anesthetized chronic pain patients. Her immediate goal is to develop quantified, neural signatures of pain relief, which could form an objective metric for device selection and lead to improved pain relief and decreased healthcare expenditures for patients with chronic refractory pain. Dr. Telkes received her Bachelor and Master of Science from Middle East Technical University and her PhD from the University of Houston.
