Derek Wainwright was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Chicago. In the laboratory of Dr. Maciej Lesniak, his research aimed to investigate translationally-relevant approaches that reverse immunosuppression in glioma, which is the first step to the rational design of effective immunotherapy for patients with incurable brain cancer. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in cell biology, neurobiology and anatomy from Loyola University Chicago and earned his B.S. in biology and music from Bradley University. Currently, Dr. Wainwright is an Associate Professor in Neurological Surgery at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.
