Dr. Anastassios Tzingounis was a postdoctoral scholar with Professor Roger Nicoll in the Department of Cellular Molecular Pharmacology at the University of California – San Francisco School of Medicine, California. His research focused on identifying and characterizing the molecular components of the slow afterhyperpolarizations potassium channel and its regulation by calcium activated proteins. This research contributed to the understanding of mechanisms that regulate neuronal excitability under both physiological and pathophysiological conditions. He earned his Ph.D. from the Vollum Institute, Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine, Portland, Oregon. He is now a Professor in the Department of Physiology and Neurobiology at the University of Connecticut, Mansfield, Connecticut.
