Dr. Troche is a clinician scientist who has made it her mission to diversify the profession while running a successful research program. Her mentoring philosophy places an overarching emphasis on balancing family and personal values with career goals. Dr. Troche’s mentoring approach involves teaching clinical researchers to perform rigorous and impactful science while at the same time authentically showing up for themselves and honoring a healthy work-life balance. Dr. Troche cultivates a diverse and inclusive environment wherever she is, whether in the clinic or her research lab. Beyond her institution, Dr. Troche has led the Dysphagia Research Society’s Mentorship and Research Career Development Committee that inaugurated a new scholars program specifically aimed at improving access to mentorship for early-stage dysphagia researchers who do not otherwise have access to strong mentorship. Although Dr. Troche shoulders many responsibilities in the clinic, laboratory, and her personal life, her tireless support of her mentees are a testament to the fact that she considers mentorship to be her most important job.
