Faculty/Research Doctorates

K01*

For support of diverse faculty scientists committed to research, in need of both advanced research training and additional experience.

Administrative supplements to active NIH SBIR/STTR grants to enhance the diversity of the research workforce and increase the participation of women and socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in small businesses

Administrative supplements to currently active NIH research grants to support individuals with high potential to re-enter an active research career after an interruption.

Administrative supplements to currently active NIH research grants to support the training of underrepresented individuals and enhance the diversity of the research workforce.

Clinician-Scientists

K02

For support of early to mid-career clinician-scientists in need of additional protected time committed to research.

To provide the opportunity for promising clinician scientists with demonstrated aptitude to develop into independent investigators, or for faculty members to pursue research, and aid in filling the academic faculty gap in health profession's institutions.

To provide support for the career development of clinically trained professionals who have made a commitment to patient-oriented research, and who have the potential to develop into productive, clinical investigators.

Specific Institutional Eligibility

SC1*

Support for individual investigator-initiated research projects aimed at developing researchers to a stage where they can transition successfully to other extramural support (R01 or equivalent).

SC2*

Support for individual investigator-initiated pilot research projects to generate preliminary data for a more ambitious research project.
