Staff Clinician 1 (Multiple Sclerosis Neurologist), Neuroimmunology Clinic

Location: Bethesda, Maryland

The NINDS Neuroimmunology Clinic seeks a multiple sclerosis-specialized neurologist for a full-time position as Staff Clinician 1, on the Research Physician academic track at the NIH Clinical Center, in Bethesda, MD.

The Neuroimmunology Clinic comprises nurses, clinical research staff, and trainees, and specializes in cutting-edge, early-phase clinical trials and natural history studies of multiple sclerosis (MS), HTLV-associated myelitis/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP), and progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML). The Clinic engages closely with the NINDS Experimental Immunotherapeutics Unit, Quantitative MRI Core Facility, Translational Neuroradiology Section, and Viral Immunology Section.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

• Hold an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
• Be a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• A Neurologists with fellowship training or equivalent experience in multiple sclerosis.

• Experience with the differential diagnosis and management of multiple sclerosis is critical.
• The ideal candidate will also have substantial training and experience in clinical research.
• Further meet all requirements to be credentialed at the NIH Clinical Center.

The Staff Clinician 1, will participate in the following:

• Focusing primarily on MS and HAM/TSP: patient management; planning, implementation, and execution of clinical research protocols.
• Analysis and presentation of data from those protocols.
• Teaching of clinical fellows and other trainees.
• Interact closely with numerous clinical and translational programs at NINDS and other NIH Institutes.
