    Table notes:

  • In FY 23, dedicated funds for AD/ADRD and UDN (Undiagnosed Disease Network) were added to the NINDS Appropriation. 
  • An additional $50M was added to the FY 23 NIH OD budget for expanded access to ALS. Total FY 23 for ALS = $75M.
  • “FY” stands for fiscal year. Dollars are in thousands.

Congressional Budget Justifications

The NIH Congressional Justification ("CJ") provides the Senate and House Appropriations Committees detailed estimates and justifications for research and research support activities (infrastructure, administrative, etc.) that NIH would anticipate funding at the President's Budget Request level.

One part of the CJ, "Significant Items," are NIH's response to language in the previous fiscal year's House and Senate Appropriations Committee Reports.
