Dr. Caron’s research is centered on understanding how G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) and neurotransmitter transporters regulate homeostasis in health and disease. His team uses a wide variety of techniques including animal models, cell systems, and molecular approaches to study the action of neurotransmitters and hormones at the cellular and molecular levels. The goals of this research program are to identify and develop drugs that can enhance a desired function of a given regulatory GPCR while minimizing unwanted side effects.
