Dr. Prakriya’s research is centered on understanding the mechanisms and physiology of cellular calcium signaling. His team uses genetic tools in combination with electrical and optical approaches to understand the gating and physiology of store-operated Orai channels.  This research program aims to build an integrated picture of the Orai calcium signaling mechanism in the nervous system, focusing on its micro and macro architecture, regulation, and gating, and elucidate how this pathway impacts fundamental processes of synaptic communication, metabolism, learning, and cognition.
