Dr. Woo-Ping Ge was a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Lily Jan in the Department of Developmental Neurobiology at the University of California, San Francisco/HHMI, California. Using transgenic mouse models, he aimed to characterize the local proliferation of astrocytes in the cerebral cortex and understand the mechanisms underlying their interaction with blood vessels at the postnatal stage. His research contributed to the understanding of a variety of neurological diseases, such as ischemic stroke and brain tumors caused by dysfunction of glial-vascular interaction or uncontrolled glial proliferation. He earned his Ph.D. in neurobiology from the Institute of Neuroscience, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, and his B.S. in biochemistry from the East China Normal University, China. He is currently an Associate Investigator in the Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing, China.
