Renee Read was a Research Associate in Molecular Neurobiology at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. Under joint mentorship from John Thomas, Frank Furnari, and Webster Cavenee, her research focused on identifying and characterizing new regulators of glial neoplasia using a fly model of glioblastoma in genetic screens and phenotypic analyses. She also aimed to translate these findings to mammalian glioblastoma model systems, thereby providing key insights into glioma pathogenesis, including the identity of genes involved in tumor cell migration and invasiveness. She earned her Ph.D. in Developmental Biology from Washington University in St. Louis, and her B.A. in Biology from Carleton College.
