Dr. Orin Bloch had a postdoctoral fellowship in cancer immunology at the University of California - San Francisco, California. His research focused on evaluating the spatiotemporal distribution of B7-Homologue 1 (B7-H1), a glioma cell surface protein, on tumor-associated macrophages relative to the tumor burden and investigating the mechanisms by which B7-H1 expression is induced. This work aimed to identify new targets for intervention to limit glioma-induced immunosuppression to help increase the efficacy of immunotherapy. He earned his M.D. from the University of California - San Francisco, California, his B.A. in neuroscience and his B.S. in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is now an Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of California, UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, California.
