Marc Halterman was a Senior Instructor in Neurology at the University of Rochester. Under mentorship from Nina Schor, Harris Gelbard, and John Lazo, his research focused on developing therapies that protect against delayed neuron loss following stroke. More specifically, he combined genetic and biochemical approaches to study the processed by which severe hypoxia can activate pro-apoptotic gene expression. He earned his M.S., M.D., and Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Rochester, and his B.S. in Chemistry from Georgetown University.
