Dr. Lisabeth’s research focuses on stroke risk and outcomes, post-acute stroke care and informal caregiving, stroke healthcare utilization, the intersection between stroke and sleep disordered breathing, and the role of the physical and social environment in stroke risk and recovery. Her project, the Brain Attack Surveillance in Corpus Christi (BASIC) Project, aims to study the thirty-year stroke epidemiology trends in Mexican Americans to identify key factors and social determinants of health associated with more favorable stroke outcomes and utilization of post-stroke healthcare. The overarching goal of the project is to give insights into new ways to reduce ethnic stroke disparities.
