Dr. Krainc's research aims to define key molecular pathways in the pathogenesis of neurodegeneration and to uncover novel targets for therapeutic development. Recent evidence suggests that disruption of lysosomal degradation pathways directly contributes to neurodegeneration in Parkinson’s disease (PD) and related synucleinopathies. For this project, he leverages new and creative collaborations to accelerate the pre-clinical validation of lysosomal proteins as therapeutic targets for PD. The success of this project may have high impact for treatment of PD as well as other neurodegenerative disorders.
