The NINDS Neuroimmunology Clinic seeks a neurologist specialized in neuroimmunology for a full-time position as Staff Clinician 1 High Scarcity, on the Research Physician academic track at the NIH Clinical Center, in Bethesda, MD. The Neuroimmunology Clinic comprises nurses, clinical research staff, and trainees, and specializes in cutting-edge, early-phase clinical trials and natural history studies of multiple sclerosis (MS), HTLV-associated myelitis/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP), and progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML). The Clinic engages closely with the NINDS Experimental Immunotherapeutics Unit, Quantitative MRI Core Facility, Translational Neuroradiology Section, and Viral Immunology Section.

Qualifications


Applicants must:

  • Hold an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
  • Be a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • A Neurologists with fellowship training or equivalent experience in neuroimmunology.
  • The ideal candidate will also have substantial training and experience in clinical research. 
  • They must further meet all requirements to be credentialed at the NIH Clinical Center. 

The Staff Clinician 1 High Scarcity will participate in the following:

  • Patient management
  • Planning, implementation, and execution of clinical research protocols
  • Analysis and presentation of data from those protocols
  • Teaching of clinical fellows and other trainees
  • Interact closely with numerous clinical and translational programs at NINDS and other NIH Institutes
