Victoria B. Wales (she/her) currently serves as the Digital Communications Branch Chief for the Office of Neuroscience Communications and Engagement (ONCE) at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) at NIH, where she leads the Digital Experience (DX) Team in executing the Institute’s digital strategy to effectively communicate the Institute’s scientific priorities. Ms. Wales leads efforts to provide a seamless flow of information online on research advances and initiatives to the various stakeholders including scientific and academic communities, as well as policymakers, patients, and the public. The Digital Communications Branch manages the NINDS websites as well as several other digital products, applications, and social media platforms; critical tools in broadly conveying information.

Ms. Wales has over 16 years of experience supporting and managing social marketing campaigns, a majority in the public health space. Prior to joining NINDS, she served at the General Services Administration’s Technology Transformation Services and supported a number of innovation, IT and digital transformation efforts. Ms. Wales has focused most of her career on underserved communities and particularly Limited English Proficiency audiences whose first language is Spanish. She has built numerous digital teams, some bilingual, and on behalf of other agencies, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Ms. Wales has a deep interest and has worked on behavioral science, workforce development, DEIA, and change management initiatives.

She received her M.P.H. from the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health and her B.A. in Communications with a concentration in Print Journalism and a minor in English Literature from American University.
