Dr. Steven Britt joined NINDS in the Fall of 2022 and is a Scientific Review Officer (SRO) in the Scientific Review Branch. Prior to joining NINDS, Dr. Britt was a Professor in the Departments of Neurology and Ophthalmology at the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin, where his work focused on applying quantitative genetic approaches in Drosophila to study photoreceptor cell fate determination, and retinal degeneration. Dr. Britt received an MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, followed by research fellowships at the University of Virginia and the University of California at San Diego. His previous faculty appointments included positions at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and the University of Colorado School of Medicine. In addition to his work in basic research, Dr. Britt has extensive experience in graduate and medical education. He will serve as an SRO on Special Emphasis Panels related to workforce training and diversity.
