Shruthi Thomas is a Health Program Specialist in the NINDS Division of Translational Research where she assists the Innovation Grants to Nurture Initial Translational Efforts (IGNITE) and the Blueprint Neurotherapeutics Network for Biologics (BPN-Biologics) programs. 
 
Prior to joining NINDS, Shruthi was a medical writer at Amarex Clinical Research where she assisted in preparing Clinical Study Reports and related materials to summarize data from clinical trials for submission to the FDA. Shruthi was also a postbaccalaureate IRTA at NIDA (National Institute of Drug Abuse) IRP where she researched how different drugs of abuse affect homeostatic parameters in the brain. Shruthi earned her M.S. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University at Buffalo. Her thesis focused on investigating transcriptional changes in the prefrontal cortex, in an animal model of chronic pain, to better understand how opioid treatment may play a role in mediating pain processing.
