Brian Haugen, PhD supports increased analytic capacity and collaboration across the institute, overseeing an extramural reporting and analytics group focused on tool development, data visualization, automation, and reporting. Dr. Brian Haugen comes to NINDS from the Office of Extramural Research's Division of Data Integration and Dissemination, where he led the development efforts for several major NIH projects, including the redesigned NIH RePORT and RePORTER as well as similar tools and databases for internal NIH staff. During his time in OER, Brian led or served on public/private working groups to support interoperability of grant funding systems to benefit funders and investigators alike, including World RePORT, Federal RePORTER, the ORCID Funders Working Group, and the CrossRef Universal Grant Identifier working group. 

Prior to joining OER, Brian was a Senior Scientist for Analysis and Evaluation at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), where he led data management and data analytic projects for a large observational study. He came to NIH as a Presidential Management Fellow in 2007, exploring NIH through a series of detail assignments across in the NIH, including in review, program, policy, information technology management, and R&D contract management.

Brian earned his bachelor's degree in Biology from Bemidji State University in far northern Minnesota and his PhD in Microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he focused on urinary tract pathogenesis by Escherichia coli.
