Dr. Gormley is a senior advisor to the NINDS Executive Leadership Team. She brings over 30 years of federal service as a former senior NIH executive. She retired from NINDS in December 2020 as Deputy Director for Management/Executive Officer (DDM/EO). She is an expert in organizational development, leadership, and is a certified executive coach. Her career focused on providing efficient and effective administrative services in support of patient care and science while assuring a positive workforce climate. Prior to joining NINDS in 2016, Dr. Gormley had served as Chief Operating Officer of the NIH Clinical Center since 1999. In this role, she oversaw all administrative and patient services and led key change initiatives including, organizational quality improvement; employee accountability; strategic planning; and, the multi-year activation of the Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center.

Dr. Gormley holds a BS in Nursing from Boston College and an MPH from Yale University School of Medicine. In 2014, she earned her doctorate in Human and Organizational Systems from Fielding Graduate University. Her dissertation examined workplace stigma toward employees with intellectual disabilities. Dr. Gormley was instrumental in establishing Project SEARCH at NIH, a program which trains and hires transition-age youth with intellectual disabilities into the mainstream workforce. The program continues to thrive after a decade at NIH.
