Carol Taylor-Burds, PhD is a Program Director in the NINDS Division of Translational Research for the NINDS Translational Biomarker Program. After a foundation in neuroscience research as an undergraduate at Regis University in Denver Colorado, she went on to obtain her PhD in Biology from the University of Vermont before joining NIH as a postdoctoral fellow in the NINDS Intramural Program. After a detail in the NINDS Office of Science Policy and Planning she joined the NINDS Extramural Division as a Health Program Specialist supporting the neurotrauma portfolios. In 2020 she joined the Division of Translational Research as a Program Director for the Translational Biomarker Program, and from 2020-2023 also served as a Scientific Project Manager for the Blueprint Neurotherapeutics Small Molecule Program.
As a NINDS Program Director in the Translational Division, Dr. Taylor-Burds manages a translational portfolio that spans the NINDS mission space, working in collaboration across the institute to advance biomarker translation.
