Mai Habib, M.A., is a public affairs specialist in the Office of the BRAIN Director. In this role she strategizes and develops messaging to key NIH BRAIN Initiative audiences and serves as a liaison to various BRAIN Institute and Center policy offices, including the NINDS Office of Science Policy and Planning, as well as the Office of Neuroscience Communications and Engagement. Previously, Mai was the Communications Director at Guam Memorial Hospital, as she was living on the island with her U.S. Navy spouse.

Originally from Toronto, Canada, Mai worked for years in broadcast news, both in radio and television, working her way up to Senior News Anchor and News Director. She went on to complete her master's degree in public policy and international affairs at Carleton University, making the switch to working for the Canadian government, furthering their ambitious Innovation Agenda, and helping transition the country to a knowledge-based economy.

Mai's undergraduate degree is in journalism, with a double minor in English and political science. She’s an avid traveler and has been to 24 countries and counting. She’s also a fan of podcasts, hiking, water sports, and anything outdoors. Mai is a proud Toronto Maple Leafs fan and spends most of her free time exploring the world with her two young children.
