Laura Asnaghi is a Program Director in the Neural Environment (NET) Cluster at NINDS. Main areas in her grant portfolio include pediatric and young adult brain tumor, neurobiology and development related to pediatric brain tumors, drug delivery, vascular/blood-brain barrier interactions, genetic and epigenetic drivers, radiation therapy, tumor invasion, preclinical activities, viral biology and therapies. Dr. Laura Asnaghi received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Clinical Chemistry from the University of Milan (Italy) and completed her postdoctoral training in the Laboratory of Cellular Oncology at the National Cancer Institute. 

Before joining NINDS, Dr. Asnaghi was a Scientific Review Officer at the Center for Scientific Review (CSR), NIH, where she oversaw the peer review process of research grant applications in clinical oncology. Before that, she was research faculty in the Division of Neuropathology of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she worked in the field of ocular oncology and neuro-oncology, with specific interests in the role of Notch, hypoxia, Nodal, and mTOR pathways as molecular drivers of tumorigenesis and metastasis.
