Dr. Guangying Wu joined NINDS as a Program Director for the BRAIN Initiative and Translational Devices Programs in 2023. His areas of interest include brain computer interfaces (BCIs), sensory and motor prostheses, limb loss and neuro-interventional technologies. Prior to joining the NINDS, Dr. Wu co-led the Neurological Devices Laboratory as a regulatory scientist and principal investigator to study the safety and efficacy of neurostimulation devices in the Office of Science and Engineering Laboratories (OSEL), Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) of U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where he also provided review consults for premarket submissions of implantable neurological devices and BCIs. Dr. Wu led the Laboratory of Auditory Processing and Behaviors as a Broad Senior Fellow and principal investigator in the Division of Biology at the California Institute of Technology (2009-2012), and as an assistant professor in the department of psychology at the George Washington University (GWU, 2012-2020). He also obtained a M.A. in Applied Economics from GWU, and was a consultant for QuintilesIMS (now IQVIA) to provide analytical insights to pharmaceutical companies in healthcare utilization, budget impact, and cost-effectiveness of health technologies. Dr. Wu received his BSc in Biomedical Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and his PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Southern California in 2009.
