The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is currently developing a Strategic Plan for the next five years. This new plan will help NINDS to fulfill its mission to seek fundamental knowledge about the brain and nervous system and to use that knowledge to reduce the burden of neurological disease. To create the strategic plan, taskforces of NINDS scientific and administrative staff from across the Institute assessed needs, opportunities, practices, and policies in the areas of neuroscience and neurology research, research training and workforce diversity, communication, and workforce culture. At several points during the planning process, NINDS sought input from our external stakeholder communities to inform our strategic goals and objectives: At the start of the effort, a Request for Information (RFI) gathered public input regarding our four broad strategic goals. NINDS held multiple discussions with its National Advisory Neurological Disorders and Stroke Council, and the NINDS Deputy Director, Dr. Nina Schor, presented the broad goals of the plan at various professional society meetings, as well as at the annual NINDS Nonprofit Forum to gather additional input. NINDS held a series of six discussion panels of external stakeholders offering their individual insights and opinions on basic research, therapy development, training, diversity, and career development, and communication strategies. NINDS is now seeking input from the biomedical community and the public on our draft strategic plan.

The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to solicit public input for NIH on investments for The Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative in non-invasive human brain imaging technologies.

The purpose of this notice is to inform applicants of a correction to the Career Stages Supported for PAR-20-240 "NIH Neuroscience Development for Advancing the Careers of a Diverse Research Workforce (R25 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)". Section I of the Funding Opportunity has been modified to show that researchers from diverse backgrounds, including from groups underrepresented in the neuroscience scientific workforce at one of more of the following career levels: graduate, postdoctoral and/or junior faculty levels are eligible under this Funding Opportunity Announcement.

The purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants that the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) will participate in PAR-19-343, "Maximizing Opportunities for Scientific and Academic Independent Careers (MOSAIC) Postdoctoral Career Transition Award to Promote Diversity (K99/R00 - Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed)." The first available "Application Due Date" is June 12, 2020. NINDS participation in the MOSAIC will replace the NINDS Advanced Postdoctoral Career Transition Award to Promote Diversity in Neuroscience Research (K22), the K22 program will expire on May 8, 2021.

The purpose of this Notice is to announce that the NIH is collaborating with the National Science Foundation (NSF) on an interagency funding opportunity, Smart Health and Biomedical Research in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Data Science. The initiative supports innovative, high-risk/high-reward research with the promise of disruptive transformations in biomedical research. Proposals submitted must make fundamental contributions to two or more disciplines such as computer or information sciences, engineering, social, behavioral, biomedical, cognitive and/or economic sciences to improve fundamental understanding of biomedical and health related processes and address a key health problem.

(Reissue of PAR-18-761) This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) provides funding to conduct pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic, and in vivo efficacy studies to demonstrate that proposed therapeutic agent(s) have sufficient biological activity to warrant further development to treat neurological disorders that fall under the NINDS mission. Therapeutic agents include small molecules, biologics or biotechnology-derived products. This FOA is part of a suite of Innovation Grants to Nurture Initial Translational Efforts (IGNITE) to advance projects to the point where they can meet the entry criteria for the Blueprint Neurotherapeutics Network or other translational programs
