The purpose of this notice is to inform applicants of a change to the IC specific interests for NINDS in PAR-21-357 "Research Enhancement Award Program (REAP) for Health Professional Schools and Graduate Schools (R15 Clinical Trial Required)". Changes to the FOA are shown below.

This Request for Information (RFI) seeks input on challenges and opportunities for interdisciplinary research that brings together neuroscientists, environmental health scientists, and scientists from other related disciplines to form new teams to advance understanding of the contribution of environmental toxicants to impaired function of the nervous system across the life span. For the purpose of this RFI, environmental toxicants of primary interest include industrial chemicals or manufacturing byproducts, metals, pesticides, herbicides, air pollutants and other inhaled toxicants, particulates or fibers, plastics, fungal exposures, and bacterial or biologically derived toxins. Expression of toxicity can take many forms across different ages and developmental stages, ranging from neurodevelopmental to neurodegenerative disorders, and encompassing alterations in cognition and behavior that range from subtle to severe. The full range of nervous system outcomes is relevant to this RFI.

The purpose of this notice is to inform applicants of a change to the Award Budget for RFA-NS-22-021 "HEAL Initiative: Human Pain-associated Genes & Cells Data Coordination and Integration Center (U24 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)".

Purpose This Notice informs the research community that NINDS and NCATS intend to reissue its funding opportunity announcement (FOA) for Clinical Trial Readiness for Rare Neurological and Neuromuscular Diseases. Through this FOA, researchers will be invited to submit applications for support of clinical studies that address critical needs for clinical trial readiness in rare neurological and neuromuscular diseases. These studies should result in clinically validated biomarkers and clinical outcome assessment measures appropriate for use in upcoming clinical trials. Through the support of trial readiness studies, NINDS and NCATS expect to enhance the quality and increase the likelihood of success of clinical trials in these rare diseases.

The purpose of this notice is to inform applicants of a change to the key dates for RFA-NS-21-010 "HEAL Initiative: Non-addictive Analgesic Therapeutics Development [Small Molecules and Biologics] to Treat Pain (UG3/UH3 Clinical Trial Optional)". This FOA will be extended by two additional council rounds.

This Request for Information (RFI) is issued by the Institutes and Centers of The Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative. We are soliciting input on opportunities to facilitate collaborations between academic/clinical researchers and potential commercial partners, to enhance the development and dissemination of non-invasive brain imaging technologies. Input is requested from stakeholders such as academic investigators and industry representatives, and the general public.

To have a broader impact on the clinical practice of undiagnosed diseases in the US, the NIH envisions the Undiagnosed Diseases Network, a Common Fund program, evolving into a larger, self-sustained network that, with public and private partners, can provide expert diagnostic services for diverse populations across the nation and foster scientific discovery. This Notice informs the research community that NIH intends to publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) that solicits applications for the development of a Data Management and Coordinating Center (DMCC). The DMCC is intended to provide coordination infrastructure, data management, and clinical research support for a new network of clinical sites. Sites across the US that provide expert diagnostic services for patients with undiagnosed diseases will be solicited to join a collaborative effort that is coordinated by the DMCC to promote diagnosis and the discovery of new disease-associated genes and genomic variants, immunologic and metabolic abnormalities, as well as environmental insults that are causative in previously undiagnosed patients. In this new model, the network will consist of the DMCC, highly qualified and collaborative clinical sites [designated Diagnostic Centers of Excellence (DCoEs)], the Undiagnosed Diseases Program (UDP), participants with undiagnosed diseases and patient advocacy groups, the NIH and other stakeholders including external funding or resource providers. A related Notice (NOT-NS-22-072) describes the application process and requirements for clinical sites to join the future network.

To assist in the transition towards sustainability, the NIH intends to fund a Data Management and Coordinating Center (DMCC) to provide coordination infrastructure, data management, and clinical research support to clinical sites with expertise in diagnosing challenging and difficult-to-diagnose diseases (see related Notice). A Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to solicit applications for the DMCC is expected to be published in spring of 2022. This Notice informs the research community that NIH intends to publish a Program Announcement that solicits proposals from highly qualified clinical sites in the US to join the new network through an X01 Resource Access Program award.
