This notice informs the public that, effective in Fiscal Year 2022 (FY2022), NINDS will raise the maximum salary support provided to clinician-scientists on Career Development (K) awards for the related funding opportunity announcements listed above. The new cap on salary provided for clinician-scientists supported by individual, mentored K awards (K01, K08, K22, K23, K99) will be $125,000; supported by individual, independent K awards (K02) will be $150,000; supported by institutional K awards (K12) will be $115,000.

The purpose of this notice is to inform potential applicants of a change to the maximum salary for clinician scientists for PAR-21-153 "NINDS faculty Development Award to Promote Diversity in Neuroscience Research (K01 Clinical Trial Required)" and PAR-21-234 "NINDS faculty Development Award to Promote Diversity in Neuroscience Research (K01 Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed)". Effective in FY 2022, NINDS will raise the maximum salary support provided to clinician-scientists on Career Development (K) awards. The new cap on salary provided for clinician-scientists supported by the K01 will be $125,000.00.

Effective in FY 2022, NINDS will raise the maximum salary support provided to clinician-scientists on Career Development (K) awards. Effective in FY 2022, NINDS will raise the maximum salary support provided to clinician-scientists on Career Development (K) awards. The new cap on salary provided for clinician-scientists supported by the K99 will be $125,000.00.

This Notice is to announce the availability of an informational webinar video with overview information on program goals, application instructions, and project responsiveness for RFA-NS-22-036, which are the initiating FOA for NINDS Interdisciplinary Team Science Grant (RM1 Clinical Trial Optional). The pre-recorded video is optional and is not required for submission of an application.

Excellent mentorship and superior training are critical to the development of exceptional future scientists. To recognize the crucial role great mentors play in the development of future leaders in neuroscience, the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) created the Landis Award for Outstanding Mentorship. Each year, this award provides $100,000.00 (direct costs) to up to five (5) faculty members, who have demonstrated a dedication to outstanding mentorship and training. This funding is intended to help foster the research career development of current or additional students and post-doctorates under the guidance of outstanding mentors. NINDS hopes that this tangible award will impress upon the scientific community as a whole, and faculty and institutional leaders in particular, the high value NINDS places on outstanding training and mentorship. Further, NINDS hopes that it encourages institutions to reward individuals not only for outstanding research accomplishments but also for their impact on the lives of others, and the future of neuroscience, through outstanding mentorship and training.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement is to encourage collaborations between the life and physical sciences that: 1) apply a multidisciplinary bioengineering approach to the solution of a biomedical problem; and 2) integrate, optimize, validate, translate or otherwise accelerate the adoption of promising tools, methods, and techniques for a specific research or clinical problem in basic, translational, or clinical science and practice. An application may propose design-directed, developmental, discovery-driven, or hypothesis-driven research and is appropriate for small teams applying an integrative approach to increase our understanding of and solve problems in biological, clinical, or translational science.
