The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) invites you to a webinar in the Preclinical Common Data Elements (CDE)/Data Standards Webinar Series, titled “How May CDEs Enhance Rigor and Translation?”
Join the EEG & Seizures Working Group, NT-PRECEDS, for a panel discussion on why Common Data Elements (CDEs) are essential for advancing post-traumatic epilepsy (PTE) research. This webinar will highlight current challenges—such as low phenotype expression, study underpowering, heterogeneity in seizure classification, and inconsistent reporting—and discuss how PTE CDEs can create a shared language across TBI and epilepsy communities to improve reproducibility, data sharing, and translation. Speakers will share practical lessons from NIH and multi-site efforts (including harmonization across disease states), discuss the balance between streamlined versus exploratory measures, and explore how standardized definitions can reduce misclassification and strengthen interventional trials.
This series is open to preclinical and clinical researchers, data scientists, and others interested in preclinical CDEs and data standards.
