Event Description:

The 2021 NIH Virtual Seminar on Grants Administration and Program Funding will take place November 1-4, 2021. The organizers expect more than 10,000 attendees, many of whom will be administrators, trainees, postdocs, and new or early stage investigators. An important feature of the Virtual Seminar will be “Meet the Experts” 1:1 meetings with NIH staff, which should be an excellent opportunity to share information about NIH programs. Please volunteer to help.

How it will work
A system for 1:1 meetings is part of the NIH Virtual Seminar meeting platform (vFairs).  Attendees will sign up for 1:1 meetings through vFairs and you and the attendee will automatically receive email confirmations.  Your 1:1 appointments will also appear in a “chat bookings widget” within the vFairs platform. A screenshot of how the widget will look is attached.  When it is time for the 1:1 meeting, you will log into vFairs and conduct the meeting there using video, audio, or text-based chat.

Each meeting will be 20 minutes, with 10 minutes in between.  I recommend signing up for a total of two to three hours during the meeting, but the amount of time is up to you.  We will give you an account on vFairs so that you can set up and manage your own 1:1 appointment schedule.  See the attached document, “Letter-to-Experts,” for more information.

Please email Natalie Frazin by Monday, October 4, if you are interested in volunteering to meet with attendees 1:1 during the Virtual Seminar.

In addition, please include the following:

  • If you are scheduled to present during the NIH Virtual Seminar
  • If you would like us to share documents, videos, or URLs at the NINDS exhibit.

Finally, please help spread the word about the NIH Virtual Seminar.  A banner and some possible language that you can use are below.
