Dr. Jane Hettinger is a Health Program Specialist for the Neurodegeneration Cluster in the Division of Neuroscience at NINDS where she supports portfolios that include research on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, X-linked spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy, Huntington's disease, and invertebrate neuromuscular junctions. Prior to joining the NIH, Jane was a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Dr. Christian Haass at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich where she researched the effect of an Alzheimer™s disease (AD) risk variant on microglial function and AD pathology. Jane received her Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in the lab of Dr. John Cirrito studying the influence of glutamatergic signaling on amyloid-beta metabolism and AD pathogenesis.
