Program Director, Neurotechnology

The Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies® (BRAIN Initiative) is aimed at revolutionizing our understanding of the brain by accelerating the development and application of innovative technologies to map, monitor and manipulate neural circuits.  This is a multi-billion dollar program at the cutting edge of neuroscience and neural engineering, with opportunities to engage a broad community of scientists and administrators across ten NIH Institutes and Centers and partner agencies such as NSF.   

The BRAIN Initiative along with the NINDSDivision of Neuroscience is recruiting a Program Director / Health Scientist Administrator who will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of grants and cooperative agreements to support these scientific areas: neural interface technologies that record, modulate, or stimulate neural activity; novel materials and neural interface devices; and biotechnologies applied to the nervous system (including development of hardware, software, and computational techniques). 

Qualifications:   NINDS is seeking candidates with a doctoral degree and post-doctoral training, with expertise in research towards understanding and applying cutting edge concepts and technologies for monitoring and manipulating neural circuits. Applicants must demonstrate that they have worked independently in planning, organizing, and conducting biomedical behavioral health, or health-related research and/or served effectively in research program administration in these fields. The position will be filled under a Title 5 GS-601-13/14 or GS-15 appointment. Salary is commensurate with the experience and a full package of Civil Service benefits is available, including retirement, health and life insurance, leave, and savings plan (401K equivalent).
