NIH BRAIN Initiative

The Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies® (BRAIN Initiative) is aimed at revolutionizing our understanding of the brain by accelerating the development and application of innovative technologies to map, monitor and manipulate neural circuits.  This is a multi-billion dollar program at the cutting edge of neuroscience and neural engineering, with opportunities to engage a broad community of scientists and administrators across ten NIH Institutes and Centers and partner agencies such as NSF.

The BRAIN Initiative along with the NINDS Division of Neuroscience is recruiting a Program Director / Health Scientist Administrator who will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of grants and cooperative agreements focused on a new transformative project to map neural circuits across scales, as described in the advisory report "The BRAIN Initiative 2.0: From Cells to Circuits, Toward Cures" and in the recent Microconnectivity Workshop Series.

Qualifications: NINDS is seeking candidates with expertise in research towards understanding neural circuit structure and function. Applicants must demonstrate that they have worked independently in planning, organizing, and conducting biomedical behavioral health, or health-related research and/or served effectively in research program administration in these fields.  Candidates with a doctoral degree and post-doctoral training strongly preferred.

The position will be filled under a Title 5 GS-601-13/14 or Non-Supervisory GS-15 appointment. Salary is commensurate with the experience and a full package of Civil Service benefits is available, including retirement, health and life insurance, leave, and savings plan (401K equivalent).

**Interested candidates should send a current CV and letter of introduction describing experience and interest in this position to Edmund (Ned) Talley (edmund.talley@nih.gov). Application materials will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled.**
